The Long Story
The creation of a single bee’s wax candle is not without an enormous amount of work, from both the bees and the beekeeper. This wax is naturally found in beehives and is created by honeybees. To build honeycomb, bees secrete wax from under their abdomens. By-products of honey harvesting are waxes produced by bees, typically from the capping’s, but sometimes from damaged frames or comb built outside frames. To produce a high-quality wax, the wax is melted down a few times and strained in our honey room to prevent it from being compromised. This wax is then melted down again and poured into candle moulds to form our sought-after bees wax candles. The scent of wax is usually influenced by the bees and the amount of pollen and propolis present, so it can range from white to dark yellow. Bees wax candles produce fewer drips because they have a higher melting point than many other waxes. The candles are handcrafted from chemical-free 100% pure Tasmanian beeswax, lovingly and organically harvested, with no two being the same.
